Singer Zlatan Ibile and his partner, Davita Lamai, blended two cultures at their traditional wedding in Lagos on Saturday, October 24. Afrobeats star Davido was among the groomsmen.
Davita wore a burgundy gown with red beadwork and coral necklaces. She completed the look with a traditional Okuku headpiece, a style linked to Edo bridal fashion.
Zlatan wore a cream outfit with red accents and coral beads. He also wore a traditional Yoruba Abẹ̀tí Ajá cap.
The couple later changed into matching pastel outfits. Zlatan wore a mint-green agbada, while Davita wore a pale yellow ensemble. The change added a fresh Yoruba touch to the celebration.
Their clothing kept traditional fashion at the heart of the day. It also showed how Nigerian ceremonies often feature distinct attire, accessories and styles drawn from cultural heritage.
Zlatan and Davita have been together for several years and have two sons. Their wedding announcement earlier this month featured a voiceover from one of the children, which added a family touch to the occasion.
Davido, a close friend of Zlatan, stood with the groom as a groomsman. He also posted about the celebration on Instagram. He described it as a “Heavy weekend” for his friend.
