As political realignment accelerates ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson has drawn a firm line regarding his political identity. Speaking during an appearance on Arise TV’s Prime Time, the National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) addressed persistent rumors attempting to group him under specific movement banners.
“I’m not a member of Kwankwasiyya. I’m not a member of Obidient. I am NDC,” Dickson stated.
For observers tracking the shifting alliances within Nigerian opposition politics, Dickson’s declaration delivers a clear message about party hierarchy, unity, and campaign strategy heading into 2027.
Distinct Coalitions, One Unified Ticket
While distinguishing his institutional loyalty from individual support groups, Dickson emphasized that both the Obidient and Kwankwasiyya movements retain full constitutional rights to operate independently. However, he stressed that their respective leaders, Peter Obi and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, are fully integrated as the NDC’s presidential and vice-presidential candidates.
According to the former Bayelsa State Governor, his working relationship with both political figures spans years of shared engagements across various political platforms. Rather than viewing these distinct support structures as competing forces, Dickson framed them as key partners under the NDC umbrella.

“There are no internal battles to fight in the NDC. We have decided candidature. The next stage of the battle, strategically, is to win the election,” he noted.
