The 11th Lagos Women Run will take place on November 14. Organisers expect women runners from across Nigeria and beyond.
The 10km road race will start and finish at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos. It is held every year to encourage more women to take up road running.
Race coordinator Tayo Popoola gave the update on Monday. She spoke after a meeting with the agencies helping to prepare the event. According to her, the countdown began on October 14, exactly one month before race day.
Popoola said the team wants this edition to beat the last one. “We just have to keep improving on what we are doing,” she said.
Every runner who finishes will get a medal. Participants will also receive jerseys, sports bags and other items.
Registration for the 2026 race opened in August. Entries are still coming in from different parts of the country, Popoola added.
The Lagos State Sports Commission has also backed the event. Its Director-General, Lekan Fatodu, is expected to help with preparations.
Over the years, the race has become a fixture on the city’s sporting calendar. It attracts women of different ages and running abilities. Organisers also count it among the leading women-only road races in sub-Saharan Africa.
