The Women for 35% Initiative has appointed Rev. Dr. Chung Pam Chu as its Global Director of Contact and Mobilization.
The group says the move is meant to widen its reach and strengthen its engagement with stakeholders. It also wants to build partnerships that push for more women in politics, leadership and governance.
In the role, Chu will engage policymakers, government officials, political leaders, diplomats and development partners. He will also lead fundraising and resource mobilisation. He will work with the Initiative’s Convener, Amb. AJU Elumelu, on strategic engagements.
Chu is also tasked with mobilising female candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections. In addition, he will support international advocacy and coalition building, and help grow the Women for 35% network.
The Initiative campaigns for women to hold 35 per cent of positions in leadership and governance. It says it is confident that Chu’s leadership and connections will advance that goal.
The group describes the appointment as a step toward stronger alliances and more opportunities for women to lead. It said it wants women’s representation to become a reality rather than an aspiration.
