Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has accused opposition parties of failing to campaign ahead of the 2027 general election. He says they are only responding to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Sani spoke in an interview with ARISE News. He said the APC is the only party out among voters, while the opposition waits for its moves and then reacts.
“If I’m the candidate in the opposition party, I’ll be worried,” he said.
The governor said opposition figures spend their time commenting on APC rallies on social media. He urged them to leave their offices and meet voters directly. In his words, they should plan their own campaigns instead of reacting to the APC’s.
His remarks follow the APC’s campaign flag-off in Kaduna on Saturday. Sani said President Bola Tinubu and party leaders are going to the people because they have achievements to show. He cited 305 federal infrastructure projects in Kaduna State and said security in the state had improved.
He also dismissed criticism of the turnout at the rally. Sani claimed that more than 500,000 people lined the route from the airport to the stadium, with more gathered in and around the venue. He accused some opposition figures of using AI-generated content to question the crowd size.
According to Sani, the turnout surprised the opposition. He alleged that its members had expected northerners to reject the president. He described northern voters as smart, educated and politically aware, and said they would ask any candidate for a track record.
He said the opposition should instead present alternative policies and show what it has achieved. The ruling party, he added, is campaigning on Tinubu’s record.
The opposition is expected to challenge the administration’s performance and offer its own policy proposals as the campaign continues.
