Nigerian singer Mayorkun has opened up about why finding a wife has been hard. A friend’s simple question made him look at his habits differently.
The musician spoke on the UNCUT podcast. He said he once told an older friend that meeting the right woman to marry felt difficult. The friend replied by asking when he last spoke to a woman in broad daylight.
Mayorkun had no answer. After thinking about it, he estimated that it had been close to nine years.
He then questioned the habit of looking for a future wife late at night. He cited a Yoruba saying that wrongdoing tends to happen after dark. In his view, a responsible person would hardly be outside at 1 a.m. He asked if that was the kind of person anyone would want to marry.
Even so, the singer is in no hurry to change course. He ended by saying he would rather leave things as they are for now.
