Air Force Helicopter Forced to Land in Makurdi, No Casualties Reported

Date:

A Nigerian Air Force helicopter made an emergency landing in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

The incident came two days after a Nigerian Air Force plane crashed in Ondo State.

The helicopter reportedly developed a technical fault. It then came down on farmland in Utur Tse-Igboji, Bar Council Ward.

Eyewitness Stephen Ikpam said it landed along the Welfare Quarters–Mopol 13 Ring Road.

Residents rushed to the scene and helped the officers on board. All personnel were rescued safely, and no lives were lost.

The Nigerian Air Force has not yet commented on the incident. More details are expected as the authorities respond.
