Cristiano Ronaldo is in line for a Portugal recall. Coach Jorge Jesus has included the 41-year-old in his preliminary squad for the November internationals.
The call-up comes weeks after Ronaldo reportedly walked out of the national team camp.
Why His Return Looks Possible
Portuguese newspaper O Jogo says the selection hints at a truce between the player and the coach. However, the list is only preliminary. Ronaldo’s place in the final squad is not yet guaranteed.
The row began in September. Ronaldo was reportedly unhappy about starting on the bench against Norway in Oslo. Tension then grew, and he left camp before Portugal’s next game against Denmark. The episode raised doubts about his future with the team.
Timing now works in his favour. The Portuguese Football Federation’s Disciplinary Council handed him a 30-day suspension. That ban ends on October 30, so it will be over before Jesus picks his final squad.
What Comes Next
Portugal will face Denmark in Braga. They will then travel to Cardiff to play Wales. Both games are in Nations League Group A4.
Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr team-mates João Félix and Samu Costa are also on the preliminary list.
The final squad is expected on Friday, November 6. Until then, Ronaldo’s possible return will remain a major talking point.
