Ikoyi Ladies Open Returns With World Ranking Points and a US Business Class Ticket

Date:

Golfers from three continents will tee off at the Ikoyi Club 1938 in Lagos from November 11 to 13, 2026, for the 51st Ikoyi Ladies Open. Organisers say the event carries World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) status, so eligible players can earn world ranking points.

Lady Captain Annie Enikhenena announced the plans at a press conference. She said this year’s theme, “Enjoy Golf, Go Global”, is meant to push Nigerian players towards international standards. “The whole idea is to encourage our ladies to be playing at international levels,” she said.

Players will come from several Nigerian states. Entries are also expected from Uganda, Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Italy and France. Enikhenena urged competitors to arrive with an open mind and said the contest would build friendships across borders.

She added that the club works with caddie communities and runs targeted events to help young women and female caddies sharpen their game and compete on bigger stages.

Schedule and Prizes

Organising Committee Chairperson Dr Karin Ekpe said the WAGR status raises the tournament’s profile. She recalled that a golfer from Benin Club earned a world ranking after last year’s edition.

About 130 golfers with handicaps from 1 to 36 will play 36 holes of stroke play on day one. The 1–28 category is open to players worldwide. Day two covers rounds for handicaps 1–28, plus a golf clinic for sponsors and guests. The top 50 players invited guests and sponsors will play on day three, which ends with a gala night.

United Airlines Regional Sales Manager Oluwatomi Bola-Sadipe announced the main prize. The overall gross winner will get a return Business Class ticket to the United States. Zenith Bank, ADL Solutions, Seplat Energy, Chevron, Flour Mills and Nestle are also backing the tournament.

The press conference drew club officials including Golf Club Captain Afolabi Balogun, Vice Captain Obinna Okoli and Trustee Bola Ondri. Past lady captains, matrons and sponsor representatives also attended.
