The Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation (MDPCO) says its candidate will win in every state President Bola Tinubu plans to visit. It also expects to win in other parts of the country.
Seyi Makinde is the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential candidate. The election is scheduled for January 2027.
The campaign made the claim in a statement by its Director of Strategic Communications, Richard Nnanna Ihediwa.
Reaction to Tinubu’s 12-State Tour
President Tinubu has said he will personally campaign in 12 states. They are Oyo, Kaduna, Rivers, Plateau, Borno, Enugu, Bauchi, Sokoto, Delta, Kano, Adamawa and Lagos.
The MDPCO sees the list as a sign of worry. It says the choice shows the president fears Makinde’s growing support in those states.
The group also expects a win in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory. It says no show of power by the president’s allies can stop what it called a rising wave of opposition.
According to the statement, a presidential visit will not change how voters feel. The campaign blamed the administration for hardship across the country. It claimed Nigerians now call the government “T-Pain” after more than three years of difficult policies.
Road Trip Challenge
The campaign dared the president to travel to the states by road. It said he would then see the state of federal highways and the living conditions of many citizens.
It also urged him to go beyond rally grounds and airports. In its words, he should meet residents in their communities rather than address what it called a crowd rented by the APC.
The MDPCO added that Makinde has been doing exactly that since his campaign began.
What Makinde Is Offering
Makinde’s campaign message is called the RESET NIGERIA Agenda. The campaign says it aims to rebuild systems and institutions rather than rely on slogans. It contrasted this with the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The plan proposes a four-year transitional government of national unity. It rests on four pillars:
- Education
- The economy
- Security
- Socio-political policies
The campaign says the plan includes strategies to fight poverty through large-scale production. On security, it promises a focus on intelligence gathering, social reorientation, and both kinetic and non-kinetic action. It also promises wider access to quality education and more inclusive governance.
The campaign says feedback from the field shows young people are warming to the message. It also urged the president to stop spending public funds on what it described as a campaign council of failed politicians.
