Osun Group Targets 1.5m Votes for Tinubu After Adeleke’s Campaign Role

Date:

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke now has a role in President Bola Tinubu’s re-election effort. Soon after, a group close to him made a big promise. It says Osun will deliver 1.5 million votes to Tinubu in 2027.

Adeleke Gets a Campaign Role

The All Progressives Congress (APC) released a revised list of its Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election. Adeleke’s name is on it. He will serve as State Coordinator of the PBAT Presidential Campaign Council in Osun.

Other prominent figures also made the list. They include the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. Governors Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta and Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra are on it too.

The Imole Campaign Council Responds

The Imole Campaign Council reacted on Tuesday. Its Director-General, Senator Olalere Oyewumi, issued a statement welcoming the appointment. He called it well deserved.

Oyewumi also spoke directly to the President. He said Tinubu’s trust in Adeleke would not be misplaced. In his view, the governor can deliver Osun in the presidential election.

Then he gave the target. The council, he said, will secure 1.5 million votes for Tinubu. He added that Adeleke had made the same promise earlier.

Accord Party Structure to Join the Effort

Adeleke belongs to the Accord Party, not the APC. Even so, the council said the party’s network in Osun will work for Tinubu’s victory. That means the governor’s own political base will back the President’s bid.

A Message to Osun Voters

The council also addressed residents. It asked them to keep trusting the governor. According to the group, he is still delivering on his campaign promises.

It then linked the two men. A vote for Tinubu, it said, is also a show of support for Adeleke.

How Adeleke Came to Power

Adeleke won the Osun governorship election on the Accord Party platform. Prof Joshua Ogunwole, the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) State Returning Officer, declared him the winner.

He polled 511,067 votes. The APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, trailed with 444,815.
