Former Edo State governor Adams Oshiomhole has publicly challenged Peter Obi’s account of his years as Anambra governor. He did so on the SYMFONI podcast Naija Unfiltered. A clip of the interview is now trending online.
What Oshiomhole Said
Oshiomhole looked back at Obi’s 2006 to 2014 tenure. He argued that governors received federal allocations in naira. So he asked where Obi got the dollars he says he saved for Anambra State.
He also pushed back on the claim that Obi never borrowed. In his words, the Debt Management Office organised an event for Obi, which he said would not have happened if there was no borrowing. He called the claim a lie.
In addition, Oshiomhole disputed the claim that Obi did not own a private jet.
“Not an Enemy”
Despite the sharp remarks, Oshiomhole said he does not see Obi as an enemy. He noted that both men faced pressure from the federal government while in office.
What Next
The exchange has renewed attention on past governance records. Fact-checks are also revisiting the claims about debt and savings.
