NSCDC Intercepts Petroleum Syndicate in Abuja: Truck Driver, 2 Others Arrested Over NNPC Pipeline Vandalism
Officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command have arrested three suspects tied to the vandalism of an essential Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) pipeline located in Dafa, Kwali Area Council, Abuja.
The arrests followed an intelligence-led surveillance operation targeting pipeline destruction along critical national supply corridors.

Intelligence Action in Kwali Area Council
NSCDC FCT Commandant Olusola Odumosu revealed that tactical teams in the Kwali Division initiated long-term monitoring after receiving reports of illicit activity along the pipeline Right of Way.
This specific pipeline plays a vital role in national energy infrastructure, carrying crude oil and petroleum products directly to the Kaduna Refinery and NNPC depots across the country.
When officers and local vigilantes first scouted the remote forested site in Dafa, the suspects fled into the bush, leaving behind already-severed pipe sections.
Intercepted at the Scene
The surveillance team maintained its presence near the abandoned pipes. The gamble paid off when the gang returned with a commercial vehicle to retrieve the material.

Suspects Taken into Custody
The command impounded the commercial truck along with 17 pieces of heavy-duty, vandalized NNPC petroleum pipes recovered directly from the scene.
Organised Crime Network Identified
Preliminary investigations by the Command’s Intelligence and Investigation Department point to a broader network handling the logistics, transportation, and illegal sale of stolen pipeline components.
Investigators have identified four additional accomplices who remain at large. The NSCDC stated it will apply the full weight of the Miscellaneous Offences Act to prosecute all involved parties, including financial backers and end-buyers.
Odumosu stressed that pipeline vandalism inflicts far more than economic loss—it creates immediate risks of environmental damage and catastrophic explosions in nearby communities. He urged residents near pipeline corridors to report unusual night activities or suspicious heavy vehicle movements to security agencies without delay.
