🌍 WOMEN FOR 35%: WOMEN RISING, WOMEN LEADING, WOMEN REPRESENTED! ✊🏽💜
On Saturday, 25 July 2026, Women for 35% convened a powerful virtual meeting bringing together women and advocates from Nigeria, Canada, the United States, and beyond, united by one shared vision: to see more women represented in leadership and decision-making positions.
The meeting, hosted by Mrs Charity T. Magaji, was a powerful reminder that the journey toward gender equity requires collective action, intentional advocacy, and unwavering commitment.
💜 Key Highlights:
✨ A Call to Action: Women were encouraged to remain committed to the fight for 35% affirmative representation for women in government and leadership positions. The message was clear: the work begins with each of us, and the time to act is now.
✨ Strengthening Diaspora Participation: Discussions focused on creating meaningful opportunities for women in the diaspora to actively contribute to the Women for 35% movement and its global mission.
✨ Building from the Grassroots: Members were encouraged to organise grassroots engagements and “Tea Time” conversations to create awareness, build solidarity, and mobilise more women around the Women for 35% agenda.
✨ New Leadership Appointments: We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Kasanang Mallum as Interim Secretary and Mrs Kasham Keltuma as Head of the Planning Committee in Canada. We congratulate them and look forward to their leadership and service.
✨ A Global Movement: The meeting reinforced our commitment to building a stronger network that transcends borders, connecting women across Nigeria, Canada, the United States, and the wider global community.
The statistics remain a powerful reminder of why this work matters. With women still significantly underrepresented in Nigeria’s National Assembly and in many levels of governance, we cannot afford to remain silent or divided.
Women must be at the table. Women must have a voice. Women must be represented.
The Women for 35% movement is more than a campaign, it is a collective commitment to creating a future where women have equal opportunities to lead, serve, influence policy, and shape the decisions that affect our society.
