Chidinma Adetshina, a name that gained recognition during the Miss South Africa 2024 pageant, has announced her intention to audition for Big Brother Naija (BBN) in 2025. Despite facing backlash over her Nigerian heritage during the Miss South Africa competition, Adetshina has remained resilient, eventually withdrawing from the pageant and shifting her focus to representing Taraba State in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.
In a recent interview on The Big Friday Show with Tacha, the 23-year-old law student revealed her plans to enter BBN next year, drawing comparisons between her experience in the Miss South Africa pageant, which lasted seven weeks, and the ten-week duration of Big Brother Naija. “If I can stay away for seven weeks at Miss SA, trust me, I’m sure I can do it,” she confidently stated.
Adetshina’s journey has been marked by significant challenges, particularly an identity crisis that arose during the Miss SA pageant. Accusations of identity theft against her mother added to the pressure, yet she managed to find strength in the support from her family and fans, whom she fondly refers to as the “Chi Master Force.”
Reflecting on her experiences, Adetshina shared, “It’s been so hard, I won’t lie. Sometimes, I would cry to sleep and be like, ‘Why me?’ But sometimes, when difficult moments happen, you must look at the positive side.” This positive outlook has driven her to continue pursuing her dream of becoming Miss Universe, a goal she has held since 2017.
Beyond the world of pageantry, Adetshina has big plans. She expressed a strong desire to venture into podcasting, inspired by discussions she had with fellow contestants during Miss SA. Her vision for a podcast revolves around inspirational talks aimed at motivating others.
As for her connection to Nigeria, Adetshina hinted at the possibility of staying longer, perhaps indefinitely, stating, “It’s safe to say I’m not going back again. It’s been amazing! I want to explore, stay longer, and see what happens next.”
While her focus remains on her ambitions, Adetshina made it clear that settling down is not on her immediate agenda. “I don’t see myself as someone trying to settle down anytime soon. For now, I have a lot that I need to achieve first,” she said.
Chidinma Adetshina’s journey from Miss South Africa to Big Brother Naija is a testament to her resilience and determination. As she prepares to take on new challenges, her story continues to inspire many who follow her path.
