AIIDEV Africa Teach4SDGs: Program Overview
AIIDEV Africa has announced the launch of the 2025 cohort of the Teach4SDGs program, an initiative aimed at equipping primary and secondary school teachers across Africa with the knowledge and skills to promote sustainable development. This transformative program is designed to integrate Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into teaching practices, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG Target 4.7, which focuses on equipping learners with the competencies necessary to promote sustainability by 2030.
The Teach4SDGs program focuses on training educators to deliver SDG-based education effectively. By integrating SDGs into existing school curricula, the program aims to impact students’ behavior, social-emotional well-being, and overall societal transformation. Through this initiative, teachers are envisioned not just as educators but as mentors and agents of change who guide learners toward a sustainable future.
The program is set to run virtually over 16 weeks, starting in February 2025, and includes intensive training sessions and SDG activation projects in participants’ schools.
