President Tinubu Appoints Acting Accountant General of the Federation

President Bola Tinubu has named Mr. Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the Acting Accountant General of the Federation (AGF). The appointment follows the pre-retirement leave of the incumbent AGF, Dr. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, ensuring a smooth transition in the management of Nigeria’s treasury.

Ogunjimi, a career civil servant with over 30 years of experience in financial management, brings impressive credentials to the role. He has held significant positions, including Director of Funds at the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) and Director of Finance and Accounts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A chartered accountant and certified fraud examiner, his academic background includes a BSc in Accountancy and a Master’s in Finance and Accounting.

President Tinubu expressed confidence in Ogunjimi’s ability to lead, stating, “The Office of the Accountant General is pivotal to our nation’s treasury management operations. Mr. Ogunjimi’s wealth of experience and notable competence will ensure the continued effectiveness of this vital institution as we advance our economic reform agenda.” Dr. Madein, who will retire on March 7, 2025, was commended for her dedication and selfless service to Nigeria.
