The 2024 Digital Nigeria Innovation Challenge invites tech enthusiasts, innovators, and experts to tackle critical infrastructure challenges across Nigeria using cutting-edge digital mapping tools. Participants will form teams to create interactive digital maps of Nigerian states, focusing on essential infrastructure such as hospitals, schools, roads, and utilities. These maps aim to provide data-driven insights that will support sustainable development across the country.
Challenge Objective:
The goal is to develop comprehensive digital maps for Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT, which highlight key infrastructure to aid decision-making and development planning at national, state, and local levels.
What Will Participants Do?
Participants will work in teams to:
- Identify critical infrastructure in their chosen states.
- Utilize digital mapping and visualization tools to create interactive, data-rich maps.
- Present findings through a compelling narrative that highlights infrastructure gaps and opportunities.
- Submit their final project as a URL to an interactive digital map showcasing their work.
Focus Areas for Mapping:
Each team must select at least one key focus area from the following:
- Healthcare: Hospitals, clinics, health centers.
- Education: Schools, colleges, universities.
- Transportation: Roads, bridges, public transit.
- Utilities: Water supply, electricity, waste management.
- Public Services: Police stations, fire stations, government offices.
Team Formation:
- Teams should consist of 2-5 members.
- Collaboration is encouraged between various experts such as GIS specialists, data scientists, tech developers, urban planners, and innovators.
Submission Guidelines:
- The final submission should be a URL to an interactive digital map.
- Tools like Google Maps API, ArcGIS, QGIS, or other GIS platforms can be used.
- The map must be easy to navigate, visually engaging, and provide actionable data for stakeholders.
