Labour Party Appoints Professor Eddie Oparaoji as Chairman and Amb. AJU Elumelu as Secretary of the Newly Created Directorate of International and Diaspora Affairs

The Labour Party (LP) Directorate of International and Diaspora Affairs (DIDA) proudly announces the appointment of Professor Eddie Oparaoji as Chairman and Amb. AJU Elumelu as Secretary of the newly established Directorate of International and Diaspora Affairs (DIDA). This initiative, officially approved by the LP National Executive Committee, marks a significant step toward enhancing the party’s global outreach and engagement.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, for his bold leadership and vision in propelling the Labour Party forward on the international stage. The establishment of DIDA underscores our commitment to harnessing global expertise and insights to foster a better Nigeria.

Additionally, we express our profound appreciation to the National Working Committee and the National Executive Council (NEC).

The primary goal of this directorate is to create a Nigerian process that respects and facilitates the attainment of a good quality of life for all Nigerians, both at home and abroad. The establishment of DIDA is a testament to our dedication to managing the millions of party members in the diaspora and ensuring their active participation in the democratic processes of our great nation.

Professor Oparaoji and Amb. AJU Elumelu are tasked with developing modalities to enable diasporans to engage meaningfully in various party congresses, including ward congresses. Their leadership will be instrumental in creating pathways for our diaspora members to contribute their voices and resources toward advancing the Labour Party’s mission.

Together, we envision a Labour Party that not only resonates within Nigeria but also thrives on the global stage, drawing upon the collective strength and experiences of Nigerians worldwide.

We look forward to the impactful work that Professor Oparaoji and Amb. AJU Elumelu will accomplish in their respective roles, and we invite all members of the diaspora to join us in this exciting journey toward a better Nigeria.
