The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) is stepping up efforts to combat mass unemployment in Nigeria by implementing programs designed to create sustainable jobs and develop labor-intensive work programs. With a mandate to promote entrepreneurship, enhance vocational skills, and create employment opportunities, the NDE is launching an initiative in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
Massive Job Creation Initiative
The NDE has announced plans to engage 93,731 unskilled and unemployed persons across Nigeria through vocational, agricultural, and entrepreneurial skills training. This initiative will include over 30 different skill sets in the public works sector, providing participants with the training they need to thrive in today’s economy.
At the end of the training, participants will either receive start-up capital, equipment, and working tools or be linked to credit institutions for access to loans to start their small and medium-scale businesses. This holistic approach aims to empower individuals to build sustainable livelihoods and contribute to the nation’s economic growth.
